Can't figure out how to get new post email notifications

Given that this is a really basic function of just about every forum, I'm assuming I've just been unable to find the magic button here. How do I enable new post notifications for threads I've subscribed to?

You don't need email notifications, just log in to POTN and look at NOTIFICATINS at the top of the page.

But that only works if you REMEMBER that there is a POTN.

Some of us need reminders. . I am a member on over 30 different internet forums - many of those forums, I completely forget about until I get an email notification that someone has replied to one of my posts. . If it weren't for those emails, I would never even remember that I had participated in that forum, and I would never, ever think of logging in.

Yes, I realize this is possible.

Yes of course. There is a FYEO setup page, and also each mail contains a direct link to cancel (no login needed there).

Thread email notifications have some personal options in FYEO, some of which I do not think any other forums have

- Enable/disable thread notification email
- Minimum number of new posts before email is sent
- Minimum email sending interval
- Minimum activity delta
- Max number of emails that you allow forum to send in a 24h timeframe

All these have server defaults which govern the ranges/limits for possible tunings per member. To decide if the mail should be sent, AMASS works the settings from top down order and decided in the end.

Those settings are explained in FYEO, basically you do well without touching them, but they are useful when you want limit notification mails, but not stop them entirely.

This is a very complete setup, a lot to code I'm working now on script's communication with POTN mail server so that each time a post is being sent, AMASS knows if any mails for that email address are still in queue (sending now, or pending retry), if so there is no point sending anything new. This should avoid multiple mails sent in wrong order if some are rejected by remote mail servers.

Note that PM mails are now sent pretty fast with info about the individual PM. Thread notifications will be sent as a similar notifications list (in 2.0 it is a little bit altered, though) that you see when you click the purple notifications button on top of the page. It will mark "which threads in notification list has got new posts since you last mail/visit", too (not in first version maybe, but it will come).

We will not send individual post notification mails. That produces way too much mail: it creates a need to have some rules for stopping notifying when you get more posts to a thread
(e.g. Xenforo does not notify about thread again unless you VISIT that thread), out of order mail and as post content can never be mailed (spam is possible). A full notification listing is much more useful.

I have planned to make marketplace posts be sent fast and individually in similar way as PM, but that needs more code and testing to make it happen, so that needs to be delayed for now.
