So will these be an allocation because Sony won't sell them enough sensors?

 :p

Very scant. You'd think they'd have a bird like this available in their 100th year anniversary year. Hope they ship this year not next spring.

How anticlimactic, "We're working on a replacement for the D810, to be called the D850".

July 25, 2017
"Development Of Digital SLR Camera Nikon D850
MELVILLE, NY – Nikon Inc. is pleased to announce the development of the next generation full-frame, high-resolution, high-speed digital SLR cameras with the upcoming release of the highly anticipated Nikon D850. This announcement coincides with Nikon’s 100th anniversary of its establishment, which is celebrated today."

Paraphrased: "We wanted a new camera called the D850 for our 100th anniversary on July 25, but it has not gone well so we had to make a non-announcement instead."

Meanwhile that slows their revenue for the end of the D810 line.

Since it's the "100" year Anniversary they'll rush to get it out by end of year instead of next spring.

That means tons of hardware and firmware problems. So I'll wait 5 or 6 months for early adopters to buy out the defective D850s. "Clear those shelves!!!"

Then they will have worked out the bugs and issues. I'll wait a few factory revs as I always do with good ol Nikon. Been doing that since the F5 35mm film camera.

Better to have Nikon take their time with this than to put out a POS like the 6D2
