How many here have 2 - 3 camera's and not even a professional photographer ?

just thinking if its me all the time thinking i want another camera because i want something different? or is everyone on the same boat?

photography for me is like an escape from doing repetitive worklife. So going out taking photos coming back and having a look at my shots keeps me sane!

what are you thoughts? who has multiple camera's and not even a pro?

I have a 5D4, 7D2, SX60HS, and soon-to-be SL2.... Different tools for different tasks!

How many people have different hammers, wrenches and power tools, but aren't construction workers or contractors?

How many people have race motorcycles, but never take them to the track?

How may people purchase track-ready cars from the manufacturer, yet never even track them on an 1/8 or 1/4 mile, or a track course?

(I resemble all of these, thus why I ask)

I think the answer is clear, people will have equipment (either more than one, or more than capable) where they wouldn't really use them to the fullest or to make money with them.

was going to sell sony a7sii and get a gh5 .. but then i'd be FullFrameless... wtf? cant have that

so I think i'm keeping the a7sii ... but still getting the gh5??

thinking of pulling a trigger on a secondhand fujifilm TX-1. only thing holding me up is this guilt trip buying something i dont need. (Hence why im getting expert opinions here hehe)

I don't think you will get hardly anybody here that will try to convince you to not get another body (probably because a majority here might already be in the same boat). I presume you mean the XT1, correct?

If you feel you have all the lenses and lighting equipment you can use, and want a different body, presumably it's due to a) it being better than what you have, b) it is more travel friendly, or c) it is a different format from what you shoot now. If the answer is no to all 3, then perhaps you should reconsider.

Yeah, as TeamSpeed mentioned, different tools for different jobs.

I have a big camera (7D2), an in-between camera (SL1), and a small camera (Sony RX100). That's not counting my mobile, or old film cameras (Hasselblad and Pentax), or even older Kodak cameras (Kodo and Retina III).

Definitely a matter of the right tool for the job.

The 5D Mark IV is my main camera but sometimes it's too much. The M5 and my IR converted M fill in the middle ground while the LX100 is my compact go-anywhere option.

My 1D Mark II is basically just kept in a bag in the closet out of sentimental value, but I suppose one could technically consider it a backup camera as well.

Most of us here buy things we don't need on a regular basis but potential guilt feelings would, for me, be a bright red flag.

Down to 2 SLRs. About two years ago I had 7 cameras.

Me: 1DMKIV (two), 6D, 80D, 300 f2.8 IS II, 70-200 f2.8 IS II.

If you look at my camera gear you may think I'm a pro. If you look at my photos you will know that I'm not.

There are lots of amateur photographers on here who produce amazing work that exceeds that of a "professional" expectation, they simply are not paid for the work, and are not employed as a full time photographer, so they're not a "professional." And you'll find those who are professionals (let's assume its defined as its their day job, they are employed as a photographer, and its their primary income), that produce things that don't strike you perhaps as being top level work compared to some of the amateurs around here. After all, anyone can buy a camera, take snapshots, put "so-and-so photography" watermarks on their images and do sessions for people for cash and share their work and business around social media. Are they technically a professional because they're receiving income for photography? It's a topic that can go many directions.

For your situation, get as many cameras as you want. It's just a device. Having lots of cameras doesn't make you anything specific.

I have seen countless people over the years with just truckloads of hardware that can't shoot their way out of a wet paper bag. Hardware does not make a good photographer.

Yet there are those that literally salivate over the next 'biggest, fastest, hottest, do everything well piece of equipment that gets released. And, of course, they run out and buy it the day its released and their pictures are..........still the same. How many times have you heard something to the effect....'I'm buying a new camera so I can take my photography to the next level' ? Ack!

Oddly enough, I've found that the greatest pictures come from people that know best how to use the equipment that they have.
