Looks like the 7D3 will have more video goodies on it, over the 7D2. Of course, when the 7D3 gets released, the prices on the older 7D and 7D2 will drop some. And I'm thinking about replacing one of my 40Ds with a 7D, or 7D2. I think I might want to wait until the 7D3 comes out first.

I can not wait! just give me a better sensor, and other minor upgrades and my current 7D2 will have enough miles I'll be ready for an upgrade!

Better start saving pennies now!

I was thinking of upgraded my 7D to the II but now I may wait!

Maybe we should set the expectation that the 7DIII sensor will perform poorer than the 7DII but with a few more pixels. That way the debacle of the 6DII can be avoided. I'm starting that rumor now.

Hmmm...maybe put the 80D's sensor into the 7DIII ?

I tried out the 80D and there is something special about that sensor. I have said in a few posts the 7D3 should be at least as good if not better but you never know. 5D4 and 7D2 owner trying to decide should sell my 7D2 and get another FF or hold out for the 7D3.

So you own the 5D4 but thinking about another FF? What camera did you have in mind? I'm just curious.

i just hope it has a flip-out screen, wifi, and that it comes out before june...

7D3? If you can't get the job done with a 7D2, you should be looking at a 1Dx2.

a 7DIII will be less than half the price of the 1DXII...and will have a lot of the features of a 1DX probably...it's about looking to the future, not the past...everyone is always looking at what's next down the pipe-line...

I can easily get the job done with my 7D2 as I did for 5 years with my 7D. Since getting my 5D4 I try my 7D2 from time to time but I keep going back to the FF. Now the 1.4 III lives on the 100-400 II when shooting with the FF. I like using all the focusing options and I was limited at f8 with the 7D2.

That is about it. I actually did try out a D500, it was in the cart, had the arrow on the buy icon half a dozen times but decided I liked my Canon glass far too much compared to what Nikon had to offer. Never did like Nikon ergonomics and menus but the AF was very impressive and had nice IQ. I shot for about an hour outside the camera store. Moving cars, etc. It never missed.

I also tried out the 80D that day. After playing with the RAW files at home I almost bought it. That is why I am hoping the 7D3 will be as least as good and if it allows more AF points at f8 that will work for me.

So here is where I'm at. 7D2 get's almost no use. I'd like to have two bodies like I have for the last 8 years so I'm not switching lenses as often. In one of those what to do stages. Get another FF or wait it out for the next crop. I'm not desperate. It is also a boys never grow up and a new toy is always fun thing. Must admit that is part of it as well.

I really like my 80D. I chose it over the 7DII when I upgraded from the 7D in May, 2016. I wish I had more frames per second, though. I'm looking forward to the 7DIII.

I figure the 7DIII will have as good a sensor as the 80D. If it doesn't have a flippy screen, I'll probably get it and keep the 80D for when I need that feature. If it does, I might replace the 80D all together.
