[...] But man I really do love this kit! The fact that I can use it with the fresnel head as a BIG honking 3-4x power speedlight really makes it one stop shopping solution fo rso many applications.

My use would be for outdoor sports such as football, shooting close to ambient and using the flashes HSS to add just enough light to give the images "pop" and good color.

Since I'm shooting at 400mm I wonder if a pair of V860CII speedlights zoomed to 200mm gives me more light than the AD200 with the fixed Fresnel head? Anyone know what the Fresnel head is set to? I assume somewhere in the 28mm range but can't find it listed.

Correct the flash head is set to 35mm.

As to your which has more power I dont think you could answer that without having set distances. Just to many variables.

You missed the part where I tested the AD200 with a better beamer flash extender,. ;)
The one that fits the 580EXII/600RT works fine on it, and will put the light out there very nicely for 400mm.
Pretty sure that that set up will outgun 2 860s

If your not familiar,m the better beamer instructions say to set any Zoom head to "normal" 50mm or so,. so using a zoom speedlite @ 200mm with a better beamer will be less effective than using it at 50mm.

My test with a 580exII showed that using the beamer with the zoom set to 35mm vs. 50mm was near indistinguishable.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm probably going to just stick with what I have for now as it is working for me. I'll wait and see where this development goes for the next step.

I will still use the V860ii as a on camera master. It is so good at it I sold my X1-C since I rarely used it. It always seemed as if either the flash was on the camera or the xt-32 was (which i just like the ease of use over the X1-C).

Elv had mentioned something about a X2 coming out. So I will just use the 860ii and the XT-32 until then.

What drone do you have?

Have the Phantom 3 advanced still. I was going to buy a Phantom 4 but I have so many of the batteries that couldn't be used in the 4 that I will stay with the 3 for another year. I thought that was a bad decision on their part.

Same boat... I want the P4P bad because of the camera but honestly the P3A isn't too bad

I also bid on Greentoe today, got it for $265, guess I should have went lower. They sent me an invoice from Adorama which was $246 +tax =$263 which includes the shipping. Pretty good deal. I'm hoping it is the complete kit.

Designed by non photographers and tested by young photogs that have never seen an old Vivitar or Sunpak with a manually adjustable fresnel lens.

Would be such a simple fix.

It's the whole kit. They list the Adorama part number, so there's no ambiguity.

Interesting... I just sent the P3A out for warranty through square trade since there was a small incident.

They said it was not repairable and they sent me a P3P as a replacement. How weird.
