Interesting... I just sent the P3A out for warranty through square trade since there was a small incident.

They said it was not repairable and they sent me a P3P as a replacement. How weird.

Dang it, I need to find an incident with mine :)

I would have gone with the mavic, but the P4 was on sale for $850 around Black Friday period last year.

I had 2 of the mavic's both went back for gimbal problems with the camera. Neither hard never been crashed or even a hard landing. When the second replacement had the same exact problem I just got a refund. I think there is supposed to be a fix because its such a common problem with them that you can do yourself. But if I spend that kind of money for something IMO I shouldn't have to be fixing anything.

my p3a was pretty darn reliable. I just want the P4P for all the upgrades.

But my sensible thinking says my depreciation on my P3's have already nose dived. I think they will drop a little bit more but not by much. If I am patient I will continue to enjoy the P3 and wait for DJI to do their annual replacement and wait for the P4P to become sub 1000 before I buy.

Upgrade now and spend some 1,200 doing so w/ extra batteries or upgrade later for half the price. I can wait.

Pretty much the same here.

If they would have made it so the P4 accepted the same battery as the P2 and P3 I would have already bought one. But with 4 batteries I would rather use them til they are dead then take the loss on selling them now. Like you were I am pretty happy with the P3A and will wait until the p4 comes down in price and buy somebody else's used batteries at a loss to them :)

Exactly.

I mostly look at it as the P3A was 999 new that I paid. Then I bought 3 more batteries at $450 total. I then bought the 4 in 1 charger for that as well. None of this can be used on the P4 so I might as well continue to use mine until the batteries like you said drop out then dump the kit. I just sold my second P3A to my friend for $500 and it only had 7 hours on it.

I look at it at the depreciation. That is a 50% hit. But to own it for one more year I may could only get say $400 instead for another year of ownership so only losing another 100 bucks. Where as if I buy the $1500 P4P then in one year it'll lose value to $1000 and then in another year to probably 750 or 50%. I'll hold on to the remaining value of mine until the P4P drops to below 1,000 used WITH 3 batteries!
