A Different Kind of Spider

Shot this the night before last.

He was hanging around a garage door, like the spiders. I'm surprised something hadn't eaten him.

Nice pic. I believe that's a cellar spider. We have them all over the garage in Texas. Seem harmless enough.

I know more about spiders than the average person, just not all that much compared to people who've seriously studied them.

Yea, I don't know much more than what Google can show me. Actually poking around a bit it might be a Long-Jawed Orb Weaver.

I can read Japanese kanji by referencing "primitives" in a kanji dictionary, and finding the character with the right combination of primitives.

Do you know if there's something similar for arthropods, that would allow me to select a morphological feature and use that to construct an accurate ID of the subject?
