MingFromMongo, I really love your picture as well!
When I voted, I did not see your picture - it was not refreshed or something!
Excellent picture!

Splashdad - I had to look up what kind of a bird you submitted. Kookaburra is a Kingfisher.
Excellent catch!

Don (OldCrow), I have never seen a Woodpecker like that around here in Canada.
They are beautiful birds! Great picture, Don!

OhioHick, I love your owl picture! Was that a wild one?
Excellent!

elfieh

Yep, saw that little guy in the wilds of a suburban golf course! But wild nonetheless. We travel out to the Phoenix area each spring for a little golf and one course we play has several Burrowing Owls living in the desert areas around the course. This one had its burrow in a ditch right next to the cart path and was giving us a lecture for being too close when we passed by. Pretty cool.

Seriously, very nice photos of our feathered friends. Well done to all!

elfieh, I like your symmetry. The Kookaburra was in our backyard however we did have two nesting in our roof at the beginning of the year. They had three eggs but none hatched. We even set up an IP camera to monitor them.

MingFromMongo, great action shot.

BTW, I had mentioned that I had two images in mind and DW picked the owl. Here's the other: Great Blue Heron reflection.
