I'm looking for a tripod arm/bracket or something so that I can have a DSLR tethered to the laptop, all on the tripod. I'm not sure what this is called. But, any suggestions? Kind of like this....

I think it's called "super easy way to knock to the ground a bunch of expensive equipment at once", maybe google it.

;)

Honestly though, I shoot tethered all the time and would not want my computer on the same stand as my camera. Of course there is a slight possibility of knocking both over, but more importantly the vibration from messing around on the computer will move the camera.

It would also require the camera and computer to be at the same height. I keep my computer on a wheeled stand and my camera eithe on my regular tripod or on the end of a grip arm on a c stand. There might have been a time or two when something like that would work, but literally 98 or more percent of the time the camera is not where I would want the computer.

But as they say, your mileage may vary.

I'm thinking that once you start thinking in terms of trying to mount a whole lot of extra stuff onto a tripod then, really, it's time to be moving on to a proper studio camera stand.

David.
Comment and (constructive) criticism always welcome.

Hell.

Yes.

Really wish I could justify something like that. Use to use (as an assistant) a 10 or 12 foot tall one with a view camera.

If you are interested in something other than what you originally posted, (which I obviously recommend. :p) I use something very similar to this.

http://www.homedepot.com …1Jug9dEAQYBCABEgJi__D_BwE (external link)

Mine is all wire and maybe a little taller than that one. It is absolutely the perfect height for a stand up desk and it has just enough room that I can add a full size keyboard and mouse pad at the side. I throw lens caps, extra batteries, color checker, and sometimes a beer in the middle basket. It really is a great addition to my tethered shooting.

Great idea! Thanks! I love the "budget friendly" approach. :p

I might be late to your post, but I believe what is in the original post is a a Tether tools Rock Solid Arm. They also make a table that can hold a laptop.
I have the Rock Solid Arm and the table and like it. I mount it on an Avenger 4039CS stand. Some times I will use a USB cable and tether, and others
I will use a wireless solution. (DSLR Controller to a Samsung tablet)

Hope this helps,

110yd
