Belted Kingfishers vs. Crawfish

Right on schedule, it seems that in July, when other species become scarce, I get visited by a pair of kingfishers with junior in tow. Today the male flew in with a crawfish and passed it to the female. After flailing and chomping it a bit, she swallowed it whole, tail first.

Excellent work, fun shots Al. Nice to see the interaction between different birds. Never would've thought they would eat crawfish Until I saw it myself last year.
