Need to stop the error

A month ago I have created Adobe Illustrator file. Illustrator was working fine at the beginning, but now I am struggling with error message: "Can’t open the file. Retry?
I click Retry. The same error...

Is there something I can do myself to correct it?

One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the (ai contents, if any, of the) corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way.
