SD and CF card question

Just getting back into using my old G11 camera and wanted to know which SD card you'd recommend. I assume class 10
is important. Is Sandisk the
most reliable brand? Since you're here I also want to fire up my old 20D as a cheap walk around camera. Which CF do I need? I don't want to overpay for the new fancy cards since my old equipment can't optimize it anyway. Thanks.

Rob Galbraith tested the SanDisk Extreme IV 2 GB as the fastest writing CF in the 20D, at 6MB/sec with RAW data. Almost as fast were other CF rated at 133X-150X.

Your G11 will support up to 32 GB in the SDHC format (see http://support-th.canon-asia.com …nts/TH/EN/82018​96100.html). I personally would suggest you go to Best Buy and get the SanDisk Ultra 32GB SDHC UHS-I Memory Card. It's a class 10 (way more than you need) and it should cost you $10. You could also look to the future, say some replacement camera, and get the SanDisk Extreme PLUS 32GB SDHC UHS-I Memory Card at $24. But I would not do this unless I positively felt I might be replacing the G11 in the next 6 months. Memory specifications are changing rapidly and a year from now that might have changed significantly.
