While testing some focusing aids (adjustable aperture, lens hood, lever follow focus) I made for using an Opteka 500mm mirror lens on my Canon T4i, I noticed an issue with DSLR Controller.

When on a tripod or table mount, I use DSLR Controller and my Zen 8.0 tablet tethered to my T4i, especially for focus stacking.

An issue I noticed today was that I was unable to select 5x or 10x zoom in live view today while using the 500mm mirror. These lenses are notoriously hard to focus, and zoom (combined with the above noted tools) would make focusing much easier. The zoom function is present on the screen in DSLR Controller but can't be accessed.

A few minutes ago, I was looking at the problem and discovered that if, while DSLR Controller is running, you activate live view on the camera and hit the magnifier on the camera's screen, it magnifies there, AND on the tablet.

Does anyone know if there's a way to control this from the tablet, or is it just something you have to do from the camera because it's a manual lens?

Have you asked the developers about the behavior you have experienced? See https://dslrcontroller.com/contact.php (external link).

I posted a question in the Android developers' forum which the developer frequents: https://forum.xda-developers.com …p?p=73144187#post73144187 (external link)

He's kind of slow, but he does answer questions.

I got a reply back from the author.

The camera is reporting back erroneous information, probably because of the non-Canon, manual lens.

Working in a slightly annoying way is better than not working at all.

Taking a hint from an old post on the XDA forum, I played with the auto-focus settings specific to live view. I now have the zoom function in DSLR Controller. I switched to [I believe] "AF Quick".

Until the last few weeks, all of my live view was done with the tablet, for studio macro. I must have changed something while trying to get live view to work without the tablet while shooting spiders in the dark.
