I got a new Lexar 2000x SD card. I moved all the files on my old card to my computer, then back to this card. After viewing some photos on this new card, I started to delete a few on my camera and noticed a long .5-1 second delay after hitting "Delete" (relative to my slower Sandisk card).

Turns out it was caused by moving the files back and forth, because I formatted the new card and tested deleting and everything is fast again.

I don't know the exact cause, but this is just an FYI in case anyone else runs into this.

Actually, I just tried this again on a Window 7 machine and it works fine with both cards even without formatting. The first time I used Windows 10, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Either way, this is something I never do so I'm not too worried about it. I just wanted to have all my recent photos on my new card for the next few days.

Writing photo files to a camera's memory card is not advised. Only the camera should write photos to the cards.

I agree. I also read something about it is not advisable to delete photos using the camera. I'm not sure I buy that one, though. I hope not; I do it all the time.

Don't buy it...Canon designed it that way! Assuming the card is of sufficient size to handle your needs, one can make an argument that the intended Canon design doesn't need you ever to remove the card once installed.
