Don't be too skeptical, Talley. Phased arrays have been employed for many decades, in applications that we all take for granted today...we now have phased array technology applied at the spectrum of visible light, rather than at either sound (ultrasound diagnostics imagers have done this for about 40 years now routinely) or radio waves (radar). Radar, medical imaging, cellular communications, AM/FM radio, and more. Light is just another wavelength in the spectrum and it just makes sense to apply a well worn technology to the visible spectrum. I'm sort of surprised that this has not been thought of previously. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
