New to the group - OMD

well no to this forum but to the Olympus group.

just picked up a newish Olympus OM-D M10 with 14-42mm kit lens.

what was lacking from my gear was a great focusing with matching fps which my sony a5000 didnt give me. I dont mind the 4/3rds as i'll be using this for mainly street photography and doing quick snaps.

my question is since im new to olympus im looking for a very small (pancake) like fixed lens that will suit this olympus. not basic but not premuim either just somewhere in between.

what are your recommendations?

hopefully some one is active in this underrated camera.

I think the only two true pancake lenses are the Panasonic 14mm and 20mm. Both are really small. Although I've never held it in my hand, the Olympus 17mm f1.8 seems very small, but not quite pancake size. There's also the very old Olympus 17mm f2.8, but I've heard that lens is far less than great.

I traded my E-M10 early last year for a Canon 5D thinking I was missing something my Olympus wasn't giving me, but I was wrong. Sold the 5D (brick) and picked up an E-M5 mkII and recently a E-P5 and couldn't be happier. As stated above the Panasonic 14mm and 20mm are small pancake lenses and I have owned both before going back to canon and as I remember they were slow focusing lenses and the 20mm would hunt on me. The Olympus E-P5, 17mm 1.8 and 45mm 1.8 is my go to kit when I leave the house and use this combo 90% of the time.

I just love the size of these Oly systems and the quality is great..

i really loved the retro styling (i have the black but wishied i had the two tone body) and the way all the controls are layed out and easily accessible. thats what was missing from my sony.

hopefully i get to go out soon and take plenty of photos.

My E-M5 mkII is all black and I to wished I would have purchased the silver version also. My E-P5 is silver and just love the styling.

Correct and 12-40mm

the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 is a great, small lens and sharp as a tack. The only issue ( for me ) is that it can hunt in low light which can be a PiTa. Some say they've experienced banding at ISO3200 but i didn't notice any
