Planning a trip to Europe (Belgium and Spain - Where to go in between?)

We've booked tickets to visit Europe for 10 days in September. We'll be flying into Belgium, spending the weekend with my sister. By the end of the week, we'll fly into Spain to visit some relatives for a few days.

Still trying to figure out what to do in between. Any other suggestions?

Parents are coming with us, so I think too much walking would be a challenge. There's some appeal in getting to some of the top tourist attractions - e.g. visiting the Colosseum in Italy or the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Otherwise, just want some nice places to visit and enjoy food and scenery.

When in Spain, we have family to show us around, but would like to offer them a wish list so that the burden is not totally on them to come up with an itinerary.

Any feedback, folks?

Do you need to get back to Belgium to catch your flight to Spain? If so, Italy is a long way off and you'll be burning a lot of money and/or time going there and back. A better bet may be to do a quick visit to Paris and Versailles. You can get from Brussels to Paris by train in a couple of hours.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Oh, I forgot to say. We may decide to go to Paris via train and return to Belgium. If we go to, say, Italy, then we'll take a flight from there to Spain. Same if we were going elsewhere.

Oh, OK. Then, you've got a lot of choices. Rome, Venice, Florence are all excellent. We were just there. We got an AirBnB literally a 2 minute walk from the Colosseum. The Rome subway will get you to all the places you need to go. Signing up for a tour is also a good idea IMO. PM me if you want details. There are also tours that bus you from sight to sight, so it may be good for your parents.
