I'm trying to go back to full frame after a sweet and short affair with mirrorless =D

I already know the 5DM3's strength but I know very little about the 6D2. I shoot portraits, lifestyle work and a bit of video. Is the 6D2 a better option?

I would definitely recommend the 6D2 over the 5D3, especially if you shoot in darker situations.

It depends. For video, the 6D2 offers higher fps and touchscreen with dual pixel autofocus. The 5D3 offers clean HDMI output with headphone monitoring. The 5D3 offers a prosumer body/interface with weather sealing, Canon is advertising the 6D2 as being the lightest FF yet. The 5D3 has a wider spread of AF points, while the 6D2 offers more AF points with f8 support (IMO, maybe more a feature for long telephotos and extender vs portrait applications). DPR's impression of the 5D3 IQ vs 6D2 is that the 6D2 has less banding when pushing shadows at low ISO.

The second thread asks the same question you are asking.
