This week I did the deed. I cancelled my CC subscription. I use Photo Mechanic for import duties. I run Affinity Photo on Mac and iPad Pro. I have the Macphun apps as plugins on desktop.

I'll never sign up. I use DPP, LR and CS6. If I want to open in ACR I just convert to a DNG. I think I purchased CS2 or 3 (can't remember), paid for all the upgrades and then Adobe pulls the rug out under me. No loyalty options.

I've always liked Capture One Pro from the trial runs. A little too expensive for me right now as what I'm using is working great for me. One day I may take another look.

The free Adobe Photoshop 9.0.2 PSCS2 (external link) is still available.

Do you need some type of registration code for that version ?

I don't remember needing a serial #, but if you do, look at steps 2-5 Here (external link)

Having already spent the full price on Photoshop awhile back, I refuse to jump on to the subscription based service, so I’m sticking with CS6. This is more than adequate, and as long as it remains compatible with the latest Mac OS, I’ll continue to use it.

This said, just checked out Photo Affinity, and I’m almost inclined to switch just out of principle.

Good to know that, for my needs, worthy (and inexpensive!) Photoshop alternatives are starting to appear on the market.

I just use the perpetual version of lightroom along with Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements. I upgrade LR every other version and Elements every 3rd version. I live in LR and don't really want to switch but I hate subscription software and Elements is good enough for my needs outside of LR.
