I went out the night before last to get some more pictures of the spiders that live in my apartment's parking lot. I finally saw the huge wolf spider which lives in one of the garages.

Unfortunately, in going from my 500mm mirror lens and natural light to my Tokina 100mm macro and flash, something got reset and I ended up inadvertently shooting all of the images wide open. Needless to say, almost all of them were out of focus.

Last night after a very productive test of some enhancements to the mirror lens, I went out again, this time making sure that nothing had changed on me (image preview in fact turned itself off).

Unfortunately, unlike the night before, the wolf spider never came completely out of his web, so there were no particularly good pictures of him.

On the other hand, I was able to capture images of a couple of large house centipedes, which are exceedingly rare to see outdoors around here.

Thank you for reminding us that centipedes can be every bit as interesting as spiders. The first one is my favorite.

Thanks.

I actually know more about the big tropical ones than the common American house centipede, although I've only ever seen them on TV and on the internet.

I've seen these in my apartment FAR more often than outside.

Lovely captures- look like very high speed centipedes with legs that long.

They are. I've seen them a lot indoors and if you startle them, they're gone in an instant.
