A few years ago I did a couple Time Lapse videos. I enjoyed doing them, and for me I felt I did a decent job. I have been thinking I would like trying to do it again with the Solar Eclipse coming up.

My problem is, the last time I did it, I used Quicktime Pro for Windows which since that time is now no longer available as Apple no longer supports it for Windows and now has possible virus problems.

I have Googled how to make Time Lapse videos, and came up with using ProShow Gold, which I do own. I tried it this week on a a few shots I took of the Sun but I really do not like how it turns out with ProShow..... I do not like the transitions, and I have not figured out how to edit the transitions.

It seemed so much easier with Quicktime Pro. Is there another easier way to make a Time Lapse Video?

Thank you for your help in this matter.

I don't know anything about iMovie, never heard of it, not sure it came up in my google search.

If it did come up I would have thought it would not work in the Windows platform.

iMovie comes loaded on macs. From your original post, I was under the impression that you are using an apple computer.
You can use Lightroom to create a movie from time-lapse photographs.
You might get more responses by placing thethread in the Video and Sound Editing forum.

That was in the past, Larry. I think iTunes is the only app from the old iLife suit that still comes loaded. And Photos of course too, which is the old iPhoto. The others have to be downloaded from the App Store now. I think they're all free downloads though.

I did say I had used Quicktime Pro for Windows. I know how easy it can be to read past something, as I have done that millions of times myself!!!

I do very little video, so I have never looked for help for that. I was not aware there was a Video forum, but I should have guessed it was there.

Thank you for your suggestion!

DreDaze,

Thank you! I just made a quick Time Lapse using Windows Movie Maker, and it works great!

Well almost great.

I tried using VLC Media Player Version 2.2.6 (the latest version) but VLC does not recognize the extension whatever Movie Maker used....

Do you use VLC or something else? Would this work if I tried to post the Time Lapse here?

i don't know what VLC stands for...usually you can change the publishing settings on the movie maker...you can save it for HD devices, computers, internet, whatever...i host my videos on vimeo or flickr, and then i think you can post them here...let me see if it works

https://vimeo.com/186353696 (external link)

so it looks like the embed feature doesn't work...or i don't know how to make it work...but you can then link out to video

I have used VLC (external link) for several years with no problems, BUT I am no computer geek so I can't help you with any of the workings of VLC.

I just took the video I made with Movie Maker and "TRIED" to upload to Filckr, but I got an error saying it was not a valid file.
I again opened Movie Maker, and opened the file, works fine....... so I don't know what the problem is. I can tell you is is a .wlmp file if that tells you anything.

To Embed a video here click on MORE TOOLS & COMMANDS then click on VIDEO (with []) - Copy/Paste the link to your video in the area that pops up. (Chet taught me how to use this!) I got an AMASS error using [] with the word VIDEO inside the brackets.

EDIT: This is NOT my video... I am re-posting this for DreDaze to show him how to add a video to his posts

I think a .wlmp is like a project file name...if you click the upper left i think you want to go to either publish movie, or save movie...then that will give you a typical movie file

Since I have never used Movie Maker before, I did not know for sure what to do. I went to "File" then "Save Project As"
Would it be better to go to "Save Movie"? If so what do I choose from there?

Yeah, you want to go with save movie, and then you can choose what kind of display you are looking for, it'll change the file size depending on the quality
