My budget now allows for improving my macro setup, to include building a purpose built macro table.

In line with this, I'm looking to replace the garbage single lever ProMaster ballhead which I robbed from my old ProMaster FW-23T tripod. My rig HAS to be mounted directly to the table due to the ridiculous amount of "spring" in my living room floor, the only place in which I can work.

I've got a good Vanguard TBH-300 ballhead on my Alta Pro and intend to keep it there.

Should I replace the ProMaster with a better ballhead like the TBH-300, or a pan and tilt head?

I'd get a geared head, but they're way out of my price range, and mostly limited to non-Arca Swiss compatible (I'm all Arca Swiss, except for the crappy ProMaster).
