I currently have two YN YN600EX-RT and a YN-E3-RX. I recently blew out on of the YN600EX-RT. I am debating on whether to just replace that unit with another YN600EX-RT, or sell/dump the system and go with Godox, which seems to be getting great reviews and is a community favorite.
(1) I like the fact that the YN system uses the Canon RT system, as opposed to a third-party proprietary system like Godox's. But I've read that the YN system is facing difficulties with Canon's newer bodies, and this is by deliberate design by Canon to prevent third-party knock-off's/clones from parasitizing their system. Is this true?
(2) I've read that both YN and Godox have issues with the auto-focus assist light on newer Canon bodies. Is this true?
(3) If I go with the Godox system, I want an on-camera speedlight with built-in RT receivers/transmitters, TTL, HSS. Basically, an equivalent of the 600EX-RT (Canon or YN). I want the unit to take the traditional AA batteries, as opposed to custom Li-On blocks. Best I can make out, I should be looking at this:
Godox TT685C E-TTL
https://www.amazon.com …2XO0I&colid=29O0QMQ8BLMBG![]()
with the following for master control:
Godox X1C TTL Wireless Transmitter for Canon EOS series cameras (X1C-T)
https://www.amazon.com …0I4G7&colid=29O0QMQ8BLMBG![]()
Is that correct? Or is there something else I should be looking at?
