BTW Have fun, I'm quite jealous.

This is a 2018 trip --- probably in May but 'ya gotta plan. 'Ya gotta cross all the "t's and dot all the i's...

This will be my third trip to Africa and I simply can't wait. It really never gets old if you're into the sort of thing.

BASSAT

I apologize. I was re-reading some posts and I realized I might of been a bit snarky. This was not my intention.

If you are going on an actual safari, it may be best to have the lens cleaned AFTER your trip. ;-)a

Same goes shooting implosions. Dust is everywhere. Shoot Sunday Morning, drive less than 90 minutes to Canon Repair Facility in New Jersey on Monday Morning. And with CPS Gold, I drive home with gear 48 hours later, sometimes 24 hours.
For me, with the Canon Facilty so close, it's definitely worth the cost.

Join Canon Professional Services. My membership cost $100 a year. It consists of repair discounts, faster turn-around times, and I can send 5 items per year (bodies or lenses) for free cleaning and the 11 point maintenance check.

Doesn't that in theory require being a professional? Or does Canon not care as long as you have enough points?

Rocking the R6 and (mostly) the 24-105 f4 L, 50mm f1.8 STM, and EF 135mm f2 L along with a few others.

"Canon Professional Services (CPS) provides exceptional support for full-time imaging professionals. CPS members receive exclusive 24/7 phone and e-mail support, expedited and discounted equipment maintenance and repairs, Equipment Evaluation Loans, on-site support at select events and shows, discounts on Canon Live Learning seminars and workshops, and more.
Qualifications
For Silver, Gold and Platinum levels, CPS assigns a point value to each item listed on the Qualified Product lists. Points are accrued when entered into your CPS account and are used to determine your qualification."

Cameras like 6D and 7DII only get you 5 points each, whereas 5DIII or 5DIV get you 7 points each. So two qualify you for Silver (fee free) but you need three for Gold ($100 fee)
