Instagram location problem

Hi all

I'm hoping someone can help me. I've just started using Instagram (via the android app) and I want to add the location on my posts. The problem is that when I search for locations it only finds locations near me, rather than looking for them worldwide. I've tried using Google to search for an answer to this, but all I get is information about making local stories.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I use Instagram on IOS, but have not noticed this problem. I've put in locations thousands of miles away at the time.

You just have to type it in.

I have tried typing it in. As I do so it comes up with similar suggestions that are all fairly local. By the time I have finished typing in the name there are no suggestions and it says location not found. I might try deleting and reinstalling the app.
