Good evening. I was playing around with my Canon 6D and 50 1.8 STM earlier tonight, just taking a few 5 to 8s exposures of the sky. I noticed this band on the left side of the picture. It was only visible in one shot, out of 10 or 12. Does any one have an idea of what it could be? Thanks in advance :-)

Those are markings made by an aircraft of some kind passing by as you were exposing an image . Very common in night photos .

Yep, airplane. Red on port, green on starboard, white flashing at wingtips.

Yeap, just a plane.

Here's an example of one, where you can see the hull of the body of the plane, it passed through M78 here.
