I have a Canon Pro 9500 printer which uses pigment ink. My question is will I need different cleaning fluid to clear some clogged nozzles than the fluid that is used for dye based ink?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

definitely ask Canon. I have never had to clean heads on my Canon prints, so no advice on fluids.

I had success with a kit of these:

My Canon printer uses dye ink, but they claim their fluid is compatible with both dye and pigment.

I have a Canon Pro9000, and have never had a problem with clogged heads.

Prior to this printer, however, I had an Epson (don't remember the model) which I think used pigment inks, and the heads clogged a lot. The best way I found to clean them was to print a nozzle test on card stock that was wet with window cleaner, like Windex. The trick was getting the right amount of fluid on the paper – too little and it didn't clean, too much and the paper was too soggy to feed. I would wad a paper towel, soak it with fluid, and wipe it on the card stock.

Like I said, it was pigment, not dye (I think), but I doubt this would harm anything, and would probably be worth a try.
