I'll be traveling to Crested Butte from Denver September 27th, 2017 and would like to know if I should drive from Buena Vista through Tin Cup to Crested Butte or through Gunnison. From the videos I've seen online of the drive, it doesn't look like there's enough beautiful scenery photography-wise through Tin Cup. I'm not really interested in shooting St. Elmo or other ghost towns. The drive via Gunnison is 30 minutes shorter.

Can anyone convince me I should take the Tin Cup route due to great scenery? I've never been so I hope a local can tell me.

Thanks!

What sort of vehicle will you be driving ? What experience do you have on Colorado jeep trails ? I'm not sure what route you are looking at, but I really doubt that going through Tincup would only add half an hour over taking major highways through Gunnison.
