Since it's launch is being widely reported to happen in the next few days - thought I'd remind y'all. Also, the update to the Godox Photo App is available on the Apple App Store now.

reading through the manual quickly it appears that the A1 can be used to make a smart phone into a commander to control the power, etc for a lighting setup and then have the camera fire the lights for the image.

If that's accurate that makes it a useful tool.

Personally, I don't see the benefit of having the X system available to light iPhone photography.

Agreed.

If it can turn my phone into something like my PCB cyber commander then it can be very useful, and apparently only $60USD.

I can't imagine ever using it as flash for my phone.

Something worth buying imho. Just a more powerful external flash I could carry my phone and flash to disney and just hold the flash up to take better lit portraits

*smack* ok now I'm back to my senses. Very cool but doubt I'd need it.

The Godox smartphone app has been updated, and now using the new A1 lets you control all your Godox lights from your apple phone. Android to follow.

I am so impressed by their innovations. Really making everyone else look like chumps.

Yup this took an approach I didn't predict.

Next version will be phone connecting directly to the flashes

what other manufacturers are currently providing something like the AD200 with it's combo mount and dual flash heads?

and 600 with the combo 1200 w/s combo head?

and now this smartphone app?

I don't follow the market too closely.

A lot of people probably still think of godox as being cheap Chinese clones.

Are they bulletproof? No.... but they have survived several drops and they never miss a beat.

Their pricing is amazing and their performance matches the best.

Yes, they have been innovators, not copiers.

Ive been able to control my Elinchrom strobes from an iPhone for years now. iPhone app was free.
