My problem is I bought an ipadpro12.9 to upload all my photos to. My Canon 50d SD Card will not work with apples lightning to SD card reader. I guess it's for compact SD card. Do they make any compact SD card to fit in the 50 D??

Thanks,Troy

Apple says the SD should work with the Lightning adapter. See https://www.apple.com …-to-sd-card-camera-reader (external link).

[Added information] You have a 50D. When I look that up I see that it uses a CF card, not the SD card that you originally stated ("My Canon 50d SD Card will not work with apples lightning to SD card reader"). You might try the device described at https://www.wired.com …ct-flash-reader-for-ipad/ (external link). The description is from 2011 so hopefully they still exist.

I also see that Apple makes a device (see https://www.apple.com …00laKZ&cid=AOS-US-AFF-PHG (external link)) and that probably is what you need. In the description I see

Add even greater capability and versatility to your iPad Pro by powering the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter with a USB Power Adapter. Then you can connect USB peripherals like hubs, Ethernet adapters, audio/MIDI interfaces, and card readers for CompactFlash, SD, microSD, and more.

So, in summary you need a special cable, a USB Power Adapter, and then a CF card reader. These are all the reasons I went with Android!

Maybe an Apple person can chime in with something.

I also found an interesting thread at https://discussions.apple.com …2435447?start=15&tstart=0 (external link). In particular someone (linda from whispering pines) bought a CF to SD adapter which allows the use of an SD card in a camera. The connection kit then works.

Got it squared away! Went back to Apple Store, easy fix. Returned SD Card reader for lightning to USB camera reader.

Cool thing too I can plug my 50D to my iPhone as well and upload photos.

That was easy!!!!
