Trial Time Lapse for Eclipse

In doing this time lapse, I discovered a lot of jerking, for which I do not understand. I did have the IS (OS on my Sigma Lens) turned off.

I used my iOptron Star Tracker, trying to line it up to Polaris, but you will see I failed there. I have a much better plan for the eclipse.

The total time period for this video of picture taking time was 1 hour 48 minutes, short 1 hour from the actual eclipse time.

To watch this video takes 1 minute 12 seconds.

Looks pretty good to me until the end where the sun jumps up showing only half .

Thanks , but I'm just an average guy that's seen a lot over the last 20 yrs . Actually 20 yrs ago when I bought my Celestron C8 on a EQ5 mount with tracking motors .

You have 20 years experience in astronomy photography that I do not have....

Thank you! Wish I could go to see the total eclipse, but it just can't happen for me.

I did another time lapse yesterday, and WOW I am very happy... now if I can do as good on Monday, they are predicting good weather for Monday so far here.

I was going to mentioned, I used my Sigma 150-500 lens at 500 with my 1.4TC

Very good ! How long was your time intervals between exposures ?

Thank you! The total over all time yesterday for this was just over one hour. The total time on Monday will be 2 hours 48 minutes, but I want to start 15-20 minutes before, and maybe the same afterwards.

The time in between shots yesterday was 15 seconds. The first video of this thread in post #1 was 10 seconds. I am liking the 10 seconds better, and I may go to 7 or 8 seconds.

Any thoughts on this?

If you want it more like a movie then shorter time but whatever time you had on this last one looked just fine to myself . But for Mondays' time span that's going to be a lot of images you take if you do less than 1 minute time spans but it will look great . I myself if I use my telescope for imaging I will also be viewing too so my intervals will be maybe every 5 minutes or more . I have a video camera with proper attachments to hook up to video the sun but that would be a lot of data and memory used on my computer and would take along time for me to process in PS Premier Elements . I only have 750gigs total on my computer . I would have to do a small frame video for a complete start to finish video and for the time i'm afraid my battery on the cam would run down before it's finished .

There is absolutely no way to line up Polaris in daylight. You have to be able to see it at night time, then leave the setup outside.
I did take off my camera, I am not leaving that out there. In doing that I have to be extremely careful not to trip on the tripod or move the setup removing the camera.

Trust me, you need practice time to get Polaris lined up. Being lazy to try it out your gonna be out of luck.

I am hoping to have another clear night to check my alignment making sure it is still spot on, doing that with the camera back on because the weight will change the alignment.
