I've run five?) not for profit trips for POTN members over the last 10 years and this was the sixth! It was the most ambitious yet and comprised previous POTN safari goers (apart from Liz) and so I didn't advertise here this time. It was mainly off road and so rough 4x4 sand driving, but great fun/challenge. Maybe next year if I head to Namibia I'll do an invite through here again.

Anyway, personally I loved shooting with my ol' Nikon D300 and new 200-500mm VR. It's pretty much the perfect safari lens. The body let it down somewhat compared to the high frame rates the other guys had but I was happy with my keepers. I also had my little Fuji XT-10 with the beautiful 23mm 1.4 and 55-200mm. Definitely not ideal safari gear due to the electronic viewfinder, but the shots mainly came out really cool. For both sets of gear this was the first time I applied zero sharpening, so I guess it was all good enough.

The processed size of these images is 1024 across so to view that size click on the glasses right :-) Happy to post more if folks are interested.

Great shots, especially in what I would think would be some challenging light.

Both photos excellent and although the elephant is good, I think the ostrich shot beats it for me because it is unusual and entertaining !

Very cool Dave. Those Ostriches were a site to behold!

Post more when you get a chance.

I'm way behind on culling and processing, we landed back from our trip and almost immediately turned around a flew to Maryland for half a week. All my PC time has been on travel laptop or work.. I hope to have something up this weekend.
