The oldest UK built warship afloat

HMS Unicorn preserved in Dundee is the oldest UK built warship afloat. Launched @ Chatham in 1824 she was never to see open waters under her own sails which were removed on her completion as she was laid up.
She served as depot and RNR HQ ship for the next 140 years finally decommissioning in the 1960's. The only time she saw open sea was in 1873 when she was towed from Chatham to Dundee for the RNR. Today she is open as a museum ship

Basically Europe was at peace during the following years and then technology advanced with the arrival of the engine and gun turret making her obsolete

There are older RN warships afloat in the UK eg HMS Unicorns sister HMS Trincomalle. Its just they aren't built in the UK, the important words being "British built"
