WOW!!! Did not mean to strike a nerve!!! I never used the F/1.4 or F/1.2, was just commenting on our ability to find some decent glass without knocking over a liquor store. I own the latest version of the F/1.8 STM and, other than it being a little slow for sports, I think it's a great lens, and an amazing lens for 100 bucks.

I used to own the 50/1.8 v2, and for the price you can't go wrong.
I don't think the same is true for the 50/1.4.

New Canon 85/1.4 rumor update, with pictures:

Wait until the lens is out to get it, or get used old lenses at a lower price.

My 50 STM is practically my body cap lol! I never leave home without it.

My 85 1.8 is a real gem IMO. I sold it once and bought it again last summer. I missed it. But now I'm thinking of doing some consolidation and just might sell it again. What to do, what to do...

I sold the 85 1.8 to buy a sigma 50 art, but I will probably end up selling my 50 art for a 85 art or the new 85 IS if it is cheap enough.

Canon really needs to update the 85Lmk2 both in optics and newer design AF motor. The 85L mk2 does produce a beautiful image but it's showing it's age.

No doubt in my mind "if" Canon designs a new 85mm prime it'll have that micro contrast like all of their new generation lenses.

The scary thing about the 85L during an event is that if you back focus or target incorrectly it'll feel like decades as the huge chunk of glass to get back on track.

And the new Canon 85/1.4 will be $1600.
Get ready for some good deals on a used 85/1.2.

Yes, it is EF (not EF-S).
