Composed at The Rye Patch in Aiken, SC.
From my blog The Artist's Story:
"I was walking through the grass on the other side of the driveway that leads up to the Rye Patch when I noticed some colorful, strange looking little flowers. Knowing that the maintenance workers mow that area of the yard, I knew they had to be some type of weed and were quite possibly invasive. As I examined the flowers through the macro rig, I found them interesting; especially their unusual shape – like some kind of alien with a hairy skull cap. They reminded me of the pitchers that some fly trapping plants have. But, I really didn’t care for the colors or shapes under them at that location. I knew that lots of Daffodils were blooming all across the front and side of the property, and I wondered how I might make use of one of those. So I decided to help the lawnmowers out by picking one of the weeds. The creation in Henbit-n-Daffodil is the result of balancing the weed’s stem inside the cup of a suitable Daffodil to produce a much more aesthetically pleasing background. A high level of detail allows individual hairs and surface texture to be seen on the henbit."
