Have this long moment where you're wanting to take an endearing photo of your wife and talking about something nice and how you enjoy taking photos of her in your home together, then drop it, and cry.

Very best,

I actually use a different tactic, I am honest with my wife and tell her I want an upgrade, then listen to what she wants as well so we are both happy. :)

Novel idea, I know!

Will the newer camera magically make better final images? How so?

Tell her the truth that you're getting a new camera. Then send her to the kitchen to make you a sandwich before she starts on the laundry.

I buy and sell so much gear (well, Talley is worse), that my wife doesn't even want to know about it (besides, she can't tell a 1DIV from lens cap). Just like I don't care what she buys; she owes me no explanations. We respect each other enough to stay within reason on both OUR purchases. The last major purchase we collaborated on was a motorcycle - FLHTK. She wanted a H-D. She wanted me to have a graduation present. I wanted to make her happy, so I bought it, for her, because she wanted me to. She doesn't ride. Imagine! She 'blames' that one on me! I call it 'her' motorcycle. It is much easier just to stay out of each others' financial business. When I can afford a 1DX2, I'll get one. She's about due for a new car.

EDIT:
We'll be working until we die.

What has this got to do with it?
Would you have said the same thing if it was a woman talking about her husband?
Deceitful yes, disrespectful towards women, not really.

I take it for what it is, a light hearted humorous post. I thought malveauxs response was also quite funny!!

If I said anything like that to my wife, I'd get another 72-hour vacation at the psych-hospital. I like to save those for the winter. They serve lots of soup in the winter.

Just tell her that you need (or is it want?) to upgrade your camera. And give her the real reason you wish to upgrade. If you have managed to convince yourself that you need the upgrade, surely you can get her agree, right? Right? :-)

And please don't break the T2i, you do know about the giveaway thread (no holidays required!!) I'm sure someone will be thrilled with that camera.

CC always welcome.

I recently had a week in our local hospital, Orthopaedic not the Psych ward, and although the first few days were not very pleasant thanks to the severe nonspecific back pain, the weekend turned out rather pleasant in the end. I did learn a few lessons though.

1. After two and a half hours of waiting in an ER cubicle without any pain meds, even the ones I should have had if I hadn't been in ER, the doctor shouldn't have left me on my own with the cylinder of Entonox. When the Nurse came in some time later with a dose of Oramorph in one of those oral syringes I was so delirious I didn't even know where I was, and most of the medication ended up on the outside of me. At least you come down quickly, and there is no hangover:)

2. You should not say to a nurse; "Morphine, I like Morphine" when they are about to give you a decent sized dose IV.

3. When you have had a pain score of 10 for approx 24 hours, the IV Morphine (20 mg I think) might as well be saline solution for all the effect it seemed to have. I do have a large dose every day though anyway, from 120 mg to 240 mg daily.

4. According to the Physios I have been standing up from the sitting position wrongly for about 10 years.

5. All of the ward staff on the ward I was on were absolutely brilliant! From the cleaners upwards, at least that part of the NHS seems a long way from being "broken" as we keep hearing in certain quarters of the media. Tom you are a better man than I, in that I don't think I could ever do that sort of work, even if I didn't have a buggered back. Oh and enjoy the bike, I miss riding bikes now.

I now don't have a significant other, so if I can find the money, I can spend it. Not that the disability money goes very far.

Perhaps. I might instead have waited for one of the men to say something.

I take it for what it is, a light hearted humorous post. I thought malveauxs response was also quite funny!!

Now please try rereading my post in the same light.

That would have been me, I know nothing about photographing the sun and then viola, I would have needed a new camera due to my stupidity. Hey honey, there is this black spot where your face should be, oh yeah, I took a shot of the sun after the eclipse because I didn't know when to shoot it. :)

Alan, I've been working for more than 40 years. For the first time in my life, I can honestly say, I love what I do. I've had other jobs that I enjoyed, some I even liked. I love putting on my scrubs in the morning and heading off to the hospital. You gotta love this job to be able to do it.
