Some macro shots from the SL2 today! Our wonderful garden pest, the Carolina Sphinx moth... Be careful when handling these, they will spray you in self-defense, pretty gross!

Update on aftermarket batteries, I purchased this from Amazon, and the batteries never caused any warning to pop up and they register their level on the camera like the OE ones.

I pulled the trigger and got in on the recent Focus Camera rebate deal at $699-$350 canon rebate. I can't wait for the SL2 to get here. Hoping to sell my SL1 and the 18-55 locally and essentially get a free upgrade to the SL2! :D

I got it from same sale for $749. I sold my 80d is very nice. But big for travel. Going to see how it works with SL2 and 10-18mm lens.

Checked bunch of Canon cameras (rebels, 80d and 6d2) in BB store. SL2 is maller than rebels (77d). Smaller than T6. it is close to M5 size. It is significantly smaller next to FF and 80d. I really liked how small it is compared to all other Canon cameras.

It has few good things like Wheel, Sensor, view finder and mode dial. Rest of the parts are little cheaper side. SL2 vertical wheel is better placed than all those horizontal wheels on M5. T6 actually has better button layout. Compared to rebels, to my surprise SL2 has brighter and bigger view finder. Looks much brighter than all other view finders. I think, it is a basic view finder without extra LCD layers to display more information. But I miss level indicator and blinking focus points in tracking.

I compared focus points spread side by side with 6D2. SL2 has better focus points spread over view finder than 6d2. Focus and recompose seems to be the norm even with FF. One big negative thing about SL2 is screen size. Screen seems to be very big outside. But actual screen is small. I think, it is even smaller than Rebels. M5 has bigger screen.

Not sure why Canon wasted lot of screen space and designed big bezel towards left side. They could have reduced the total screen size with same display area. BBF/* button could have been added close to the top corner of screen. It is very difficult to use * button for BBF.

Just use the top button for BBF, don't use *, that helps a little anyways.

Also keep in mind that the SL2 is a bit larger than the SL1, nothing very noticeable though.

Thanks TeamSpeed. Going to swap those buttons. Also going to make set button for EC. I am thinking of using it in M mode with Auto ISO along with some EC. Can we assign EC to some other button other than hold SET.

Not sure on that last question? I have only customized the BBF and moving it down.

If i am going to carry one lens with SL2 during travel, which one make sense between 10-18mm and sigma 17-50mm. I need to check if my 17-50mm lens working fine with SL2 as well.
