thanks for the info, but now you just aren't helping by justifying a higher priced product lol

(4 edits in all) | Sep 09, 2017 10:57 | #35 Still don't have my 5D, but i just found some old tests i made some time ago. I took 5 stops underexposed shots and adjusted +5 exposure on lightroom to the raw files. Then i exported to a 1024 pixels width size: 5D @ ISO50: IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/YirpYy 70D @ISO100: IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/YirqRq 1100D @ISO100: IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/XXrHRL Compare the shadows of the 70D at ISO100 vs 5d at ISO50D. Isn't it better? To me that's the only usable photo. PS: if requested i may have the raw files available to anyone. PS2: it was shot under a fluorescent light, warm white color. WB i think it was set to auto. Same exposure settings. Same lens: a Canon 24-70 F4 L IS, i adjusted the FL for the same FOV between different sensor sizes. No noise reduction, nor sharpening. 500px

(2 edits in all) | Sep 09, 2017 15:39 | #39 In my opinion having the final image at the same size gives a fair comparison because the 1100D and 5D are 12 megapixels and the 70D has 20. So a 100% crop of the 70D would yeld more detail and would make comparison more difficult. And btw a 100% crop of the 5D would make the 70D and 1100D look very bad, yeah it gives more detail because of the more megapixels (12 in the 5D vs 20 in the 70D ) but these crop cameras at 100% crop is like looking through a very old and thick glass. 500px

To fix the WB issue has to wait, i don't have my 5D back yet. And finally i didn't handycapped the 70D at ISO100, Canon did it. If 70D had ISO50 i would love to compare it. So i included the 5D @ ISO 50 and also ISO100. The 5d doesn't have iso 50 either, or the 70d does have it, you just have to do what camera won't do for you, take your pick. The camera simply shoots at iso 100 and pulls the raw file back for you, everyone knows this. It isn't really iso 50, it is a digital pull. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

Dec 12, 2017 13:37 | #41 just wanted to say, got my 5d4 come in today. didn't like the 6d's and thought about 5d3, but loved the similiar features of the 5d4 to the 7d2. Autofocus points quick change, quick swap from oneshot<>AF Servo, had a t4i first and really missed the touch screen. Overall, i am super happy and had a chance to play with the RAW files, i really appreciate how much i can lift the shadows compared to a 7d2 and how much cleaner the images are in low light higher ISO. Getting a 16-35 or a 24-70 2.8 within the next couple of weeks.

Wilt Reader's Digest Condensed version of War and Peace [POTN Vol 1] More info Post edited over 5 years ago by Wilt. (5 edits in all) | Dec 12, 2017 17:08 | #42 Bongcruz wrote in post #18437640 So I've never shot full frame and noticed these 5D classics been cheap lately and wouldn't mind snagging a full frame. But with new APSC sensor, would it still be worth it from shooting with my 7DM2? Still keeping the 7d but I mean, a full frame is a full frame right? Thoughts? Well, consider the fact that at 16x24" print size
so while the 7DII has more pixels per millimeter of sensor, the FF print presents more total detail and better perceived 'sharpness' on the large print! At smaller print sizes (e.g. 8"x12") the both images provide more detail on print than the human eye is capable of discerning. In dim light, the 7DII is clearly superior to the 5D(c) in terms of both ability to capture anything at all, and to do so with far less digital noise.
