So yeah, I'm a bit weird and sill look at ACDSee every now and then.
It was the very first "graphics" app I ever installed after "paint" in Windows 3.1
I got used to it for browsing, viewing, batch renaming. It's remained off and on part of my toolkit the whole time.
ACDsee was never my "editor" for anything having to do with my digital photos,. but I used it alongside PS since Photoshop 4 for lots of other more mundane tasks.
In the pre-Lightroom era, asset management was not built into our editors,. so ACDsee was it.
It's major advantages are SPEED, speed and speed, multiple views, management with folders, many different kinds of preview/thumbnail/filmstrip options, dual monitor support,. heck back with version 3 I could set the thumbnail size to anything I want. that was unheard of in the Win95 era.
I have been using Ultimate 10 now since the 5D4 forced an update on me, and I have to say, this management system is amazing. Add to that the fact that it's editing tools are becoming more and more useful.
My only problem is the editing and RAW or "Develop" module. RAW is Relatively new for ACDsee and it simply is not up to the task as compared to C1 etc,.
ACDSee has always been fast at everything but oddly with the large files we get from modern DSLR, ACDsee really bogs down in edit/develop mode.
BUT it is very handy to have a SINGLE app that can do a little bit of everything in a lean install vs. having to load up everything that is on my workstation on my laptop or work PC as well.
It's cataloging database is quite robust. I bet a lot of what is under the hood in programs like LR came from little apps like ACDSee over the years.
Anyway, I just keep enjoying this app, and thought I'd mention it.
