Horned Grebe

We just got back from a trip to the east end of Rainy Lake where I was able to get a few shots of a Horned Grebe. This time of year they look nothing like they do in spring and I confess I had to get the field guide out to be sure of what it was, as I don't see them very often.

Very nice shots-hard to believe this is the same flashy bird seen in the spring.

Thanks, Rog. It came out of the reeds at then end of a small bay we were fishing and the backshore was full of tall dark pines that made the water very dark. The bird was well illuminated though, fortunately.
