Exactly, Canon shooters never had it so good... like a Sony sensor :-P

Even the 24-70/2.8 v1 has IS on my A7R2.

Happy with the 24-105 STM.

which one do you have? first version or second one? I'd just be nice to have a lens to zoom out to capture a whole scene and zoom in for up close tighter areas in my opinion..

I have been happy with my copy of the 24-105 version 1. When I micro adjusted it, the image quality
was very close to my 24-70 f/2.8L v2.

Based on what I have seen online, there is little love for the 24-105. I suspect it is because of copy to copy variation, so finding a good copy will be hard.

Personally, I have the 24-105 L f4, and love it paired with my 7D2 or my 5D3. it is a great lens, very versatile. It can be a tad soft wide open, so if I need to be sharp I stop it down a smidge. When I need it to be wider on the 7D2 I pan and then stitch photos. Some people hate this lens. I've worked with a 24-70 f2.8 Tamron, and that just isn't quite telephoto enough for me as an all purpose lens.
At around $600 used, it is a great bargain. Tough too, beat my up mine more than I should. 28-70 v1 you have to watch for worn collers in the zoom that will decenter the lens. Lensrentals has a good article on it in their blog. 24-70 f2.8 vII is a great lens as well.
JMHO, YMMV

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

it's not a cynic post, I was pointing out that the 28-70 and 24-70 had a lifespan of 10 years, so a realistic replacement of the 24-70ii would be 2022.

I dont really care if the next one has IS or not, and for my sake, I'de take it WITHOUT IS to keep costs lower. The 24-70ii is a fantastic lens, and I've owned it twice now. If it wasnt for the fairly noisy USM motor for videos, I'de still own it.

Which do you like better? 24-70..f4 or 2.8, 24-105.. Is their much difference between first version of the 24-105 and the version ii?? let's hear it. thanks!!

I have the 24-105 f/4 L IS Version 1 and the 24-70 f/4 L IS.
Used the 24-105 on a 40D in 2008 and then a pair of 7D's for several years. When I bought a 5D Mark III, the wide end distortion was apparent.
So I went back and forth between the two 24-70's.........f/2.8 L Mark II vs. f/4 L with IS.........
And I bought the 24-70 f/4 L IS. Better color, improved sharpness, less distortion. I like it.
Plus the Macro mode comes in handy when my 100 L Macro is not with me.

Well, I see it from a different perspective.
What I see is that Canon is doing their best to keep us slave to the system (literally) and give us the minimum benefits for their maximum revenue. In that sense, Canon is making us miserable, but they throw us a carrot at the very last moment before we are desperate enough to dare the switch.
I can't stand that, so I am giving my money to companies who are taking a risk to innovate.

Finally, after so many years of crappy sensors and lack of innovations, they finally came out with the 5D4 which is still lagging 3 years behind Sony technology. No IBIS, so they can leech your blood for IS lenses. And the funny thing is that some of them are not even available (where's the 24-70/2.8 IS ?).

I've considered nikon because of this. Your post isn't the only one that's made this statement. thanks.

yeah I don't see it that way. my gear has never really held me back. I am the weak link. I could always pick and choose lenses and sensors with the various camera companies and make myself miserable but i'm too busy doing my thing. and I know if I had that opinion about Canon a canon forum is the last place you'd find me....i'm pretty sure the crow is black no matter where he flies though :-P.

If there is a slight chance to save my lens investment, I try my best.
Maybe I am an overly optimistic crow.
