Assuming it's for a camera with an APS-C sensor, probably the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 Art. If I could only pick from those two it would still be the Sigma. But I really like a decently fast standard lens.

The 24-70 would be great if I had a camera with a 35mm sensor, but it would not be a focal length range that would interest me on APS-C.

I'd quite like a fast, i.e. faster than f/2, 22mm lens for an APS-C sensor too. Although I huess the aforementioned 18-35 pretty much deals with that, along with the 18mm. Certainly covers the old 28/35/50 prime combos that seemed popular on 35mm film back in the late 70's when I got interested in photography.

The 24-70 is more versatile obviously.

What other lenses do you own?

Then .. between those two, certainly the 24-70 f/2.8 ... no contest. But why just those particular two?

I have a 135l f2 100mm macro and the 35mm sigma 1.4 art. I've thought about selling the sigma and get the 24-70 2.8...

only thing bothers me is doesn't have image stabilization but I do like how versatile the lens is. I've considered this one and the 50mm 1.2L..

Thanks! I've looked at the sigma 24-70 but rather stick to Canon L series stuff.

You don't NEED IS in modern bodies... just push the ISO a bit. It can handle it. The 24-70 II is a beast.

A inexpensive alternative would be the 35 f2 IS. Killer lens. And very inexpensive.

Of those two, I'd take the 35. No use for f/2.8 zooms.

Canon's.
