I'm missing a screw on the top of the Feisol 3442 tripod to attach the ballhead. Anyone know the type of screw I should be buying to replace it?

mcoren Beware the title fairies! More info | Sep 09, 2017 18:11 | #2 I believe the standard for attaching tripod heads is 3/8 inch coarse thread. Try contacting the tripod manufacturer and see if they'll send you the missing part. Canon EOS R7, M5, 100 (film), and Sony α6400

They want me to buy the entire plate. Although it's not expensive $22, I think the screw is standard part

Thank you! I'll definitely check hardware store for it.

Choderboy I like a long knob More info | Sep 09, 2017 22:57 | #6 Is it just a bolt? A Gitzo has a custom part, 3/8 thread protrudes as in your photo but below the plate it is a much larger threaded section that fits into the flat plate. Dave

I got 3/8" x 1" and it works perfectly.

I just made a spacer for my tripod which required a 3/8 thread to mount a head. I checked my ball head and there is 27mm inside so I made it about 20mm of thread protruding The "conversion" that I did was on a Gitzo Systematic Top Plate, so it's a very similar situation to the OP's Feisol. Were they normal tripods (with center columns) then just using a bolt would not work. Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).
