A Horse named Thor

This was a 1st for me, and Horses usually intimidate me. However once I got out there, and behind the camera I had a great time. Any feedback for the future would be greatly appreciated. I would love another go at this.

Shouldn't have cropped the ears on the horse?

1. No I don't think you should have cropped the ears.
2. No, not too bright. High key shots can be great whatever the subject.
3. Next time try to get some shots from the front rather than the side - more expressive.

1. snapshot, cropped head and terrible backdrop
2. Nice shot and processing
3. Nice shot but again w/ the cropped head and the backdrop leaves a lot to be desired
4. doesn't do anything for me

In shot #2, I'd have liked to see the rider's face. Otherwise, I've nothing to add that hasn't been mentioned in earlier replies.

Personally I think it's kind of weird that she's kissing the horse... hopfully it was her idea? I don't think I could see myself saying "ok let's try one with you kissing the horse"

I think there are better poses put there to show she is connected to her pet

Yes her idea... It's her 1st horse, and she's 17. I went with it. Honestly I don't know if it's weird. I kiss my kids, my pup. Didn't think it was too odd, but I'm new. No clue.

My granddaughter was a horse kisser too when she was 17. We had to have her horse put down a few years ago after a bout with colic, but I'm sure she'd still be kissing him if he were alive.

I think you guys are getting a little sentimental with my comment. Im not knocking you guys loving your pet I just think there is better posing for convey that you have a connection.

I've never shot my daughter kissing her horse as a pose, but have shot candid pics of her kissing her horse, or horses that aren't hers. In this pic, we were going to retrieve her horse from the pasture when this one that was in the pasture next to her horse, came running up to her to get some attention. She was 14 in this image and kissing was a spontaneous way for her to show her affection. I couldn't resist taking the pic. I also included a later pic in a more traditional pose.

I totally understood... I honestly didn't know if it was odd or not. She was kissing her horse... Turns out those are her favorite, so since she's the client I guess I can't judge !

Girls and horses don't need posing, they seem to have a natural affinity. My daughter is always kissing her horse(s)!
I like your shots, good first attempt!

By them way, one of her horses is called Odin, who as you probably know is the father of Thor (in Norse mythology anyway)!
