So I got my Canon EOS M3 today and took off the lid. I wanted to clean the sensor so I huffed on it and then cleaned it with my t shirt? Will it be alright?

I think your T shirt will be just fine.

Your sensor however may be a different matter it depends on how clean your T shirt was, you may have transferred some grease onto the sensor or even scratched it although the sensor is protected by a surface filter which usually has quite a hard surface. Just don't try to clean it again unless you have the right equipment.

Tshirts are okay to clean with, heck, sometimes the dirt is so bad, I have to get out a wet hopefully clean rag and wipe down the glass. If the grime is really baked on, I will pull out a polyester scouring pad on that glass.

After putting the glass back in the cupboard, and looking at my camera sensor, nope, T-shirts are not in my list of approved cleaning material. T-shirts are reserved for eyeglasses, an occasional drinking glass, a spoon or two, and yard work. Not for cleaning sensors on electronic devices....

Easiest way is the dishwasher. Just make sure you put it on the top rack.

I won't even do that except in rare circumstances and mostly with my old/backup pair.

Eyeglasses have coatings too, and a scratch in my eyeglasses will annoy me more regularly than a scratch in a lens technically.

Can be used for lenses in a pinch.

I use Brillo on mine. Works like a charm. Just be sure to rinse off the soap by holding the camera under a stream of warm water. If I had a sand-blaster that would be my preferred approach.

No joke, my mother-in-law was trying to scrub off baked on bugs from her car and when a rag didn't do it, she used a kitchen scrub pad. Totally destroyed the paint.

For bugs, the angle grinder is very efficient.

Yes, just tell your Mom to wash the t-shirt as she normally does.
