I'm pretty happy with my 70-200 G2. This is my next lens and waiting for more reviews to pour in. Here's another YouTube one:

So far so good for the Tamron...part 2 should be the interesting video!

Are you just as happy with this Tamron lens a you were with the 70-200mm?

I ask because now that I have my Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 G2 and very happy with it, I'm now thinking about purchasing the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2.

This will be for my Canon 70D for now...I plan to purchase a full frame body in the future and only purchasing full-frame lenses from here on.

Absolutely! These lenses share the same 5 stops of stabilization feature. They both are able to utilize the Tap-in module... even though there has been no firmware updates for either lens since their introduction. IQ for both is excellent! And a minor plus is the fact that the 70-200 is a black lens. I don't run quite as fast as I used to so I prefer not to advertise an expensive lens.

Thanks...good to know!

I haven't purchased the Tap-In-Console yet but will probably do so once I see a firmware release and/or purchase the 24-70 next, so more reason to have it. ;-)a

I know that the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 get rave reviews but it lacks IS (although seems to be just fine without it), which is nice to have and does come with a much taller price tag.

My only slight concern is if the widest range of 24mm will be too tight as a walk around lens on my crop body...I don't think it'll be a big problem...and I do have my Canon 10-18mm when needed.

I dunno... seems the mk2 beats it up pretty bad.

Something strange ... I did the comparison at 70mm f8. I would have expected both to be on par but the Tamron is fuzzy, in fact fuzzy at many aperture settings. This can't be right. I would expect the Canon to be better but not that much better, or that the Tamron be universally fuzzy.

Reviews are infested by fanboys and subpar critiquing.

I'm pickier than all.

did you get a chance to see Dustin's review though? I think it's pretty honest, though I do wish he could of had a Canon II.

But you trust this unquestionably? Really? It seems to me you just don't want to like this lens... regardless

I was actually really impressed with his review.

out of any 24-70 I like the G2 the most. But I have a tamron love/hate relationship and well ya.

I've just been an emotional ball of mess right now over my desire to move to phase one and let all the haters hate because I want 100mp snapshots of my coffee cup

or even worse my cat

I'll be selling our version 1 around Christmas time to pick up the g2 if it shows a bit better AF acquisition speed in low light. Dustin commented that he'll be testing that in part 2.

The corner sharpness over the 1st version, and the fact that it seems they fixed the strong hard-edge-like vignette makes the g2 already a winner in my book.

They didn't fix anything they made it shinier and prettier with really good VC.

It's really a VC vs. IQ debate
