Hi.

Not very long at all. I use the Voigtländer 125mm f/2.5 Apo-Lanthar Macro, which has 630° of focus throw (precision focus-ring fine-tuning), compared to the typical 150° to 270° modern macro lenses with AF offer. So just gradually turned the focus ring, and it took less than a minute.

I actually didn't do anything to keep them still. They were remaining motionless as found.

There are a lot of them in my area, and I am able to just find them outside, in the early AM, and photographing them as they are.

You know, I don't think I've ever seen field images from the Apo-Lanthar before. It seems like one of those lenses everyone likes to talk about but nobody actually uses. Very cool.

Thanks, Mike.

Here are some more images taken from the Voigtländer 125mm f/2.5 Apo-Lanthar Macro:

What I like most about the lens, is the subtle, realistic colors it displays.

If you want to read more about it, I created a blog post about the Voigtländer Apo Macro (external link) that you might find interesting.

I like the little Mantid, but the Acmon blue is my favorite.
