Yeah, I exaggerated a bit, but this battle went on for several minutes, neither the bee nor Hummingbird giving up. I just basically pointed and fired away hoping for something. No sharpness or clarity here but the hummer's posturing is certainly interesting.

Cool set Rog, the hummer was definitely not happy with the wasp! Ours have departed for the year, feeders coming in today. Sure not a lot of comments on here these days.

Very interesting sequence. I've never seen hummers stick around with bees or wasps at the feeders.

Very cool set. Especially like the last one. I've never seen hummingbird against bee combat before, but thanks to you I can no longer say that. :-P

Love it. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Ian and thanks! Yeah, it is fairly quiet, but then, I'm not interacting much either. Summer doldrums? I know, first day of fall, but it's going to be 93 today! Heat wave ruining my favorite time of year!
I still have a few lingerers, usually do into 1st week of October.

Thank you, greyswan. This was one hungry or one stubborn hummer!

Thank you. As said, they went at it for awhile. After well over 50 shots, these were the only ones I had the nerve to post. Thank goodness for digital!:-)

Love it. Thanks for sharing!

These are great, Rog.

This is a weird thing that I ran into a few years ago as well.....and I certainly don't want to hijack your thread. In my situation the bee was the victor with the hummer making a hasty retreat. Pretty surprising.

These are excellent! I envy the clarity/sharpness attained.

Wow. Nice shots too! Getting to "bee" a bit of a theme here. :p

Maybe if the OP doesn't mind, this could be a pretty neat thread for bird to bee combat if others had similar experiences to share.

Let's do it. It is an interesting challenge, imo.
