Feedback on watermark

First off photography is just a hobby but I still like having some kind of mark on my photos. I have a SmugMug that is really more for me than anything I am off and on social media. I had a watermark I was using but really didn't like it. This is what I have started, any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated.

It might give you minimal protection over © name name 2017 as Carolyn E Wright's blog points out. But if someone else takes your shot & uses it for something & I google "GF Photography", will I find you?

I have never searched that, the short answer is no. The one that comes up is not me. I do see your point what does it matter if you can't find the owner.

That's a watermark? I'd concur, a watermark should be simple and factual to give you protection but not distract too much from the photo, that does the opposite.

As a logo, perhaps, but it's so busy you have to study it to understand it, so, not great as a logo, it's just got too much going on in a small area, I'd get rid of the f and the 'hotography', and just write 'GP Photography' underneath...

Looks much better, to humour me, have you tried putting the writing below, I think that'll look cleaner still........

If you absolutely HAVE to use the overused shutter in your logo then make it much more simple than what you have there. Make the circle of the shutter the G.
Your big border does not read as a G to me.

It won't be long before very few people even recognize the "shutter/iris." Very few cameras use bladed shutters, cell phones are all electronic, and the lens irises of other cameras are only visible for an instant.

Ok here is one more, not really a fan of it.

Geet rid of the big G, it's doing nothing, and move the text inside the outline....

You do know you are asking for Graphic Design guidance on a photography forum? 1. Most photographers here are not graphic designers. 2. Photographers are not your target market.

I would recommend you trying a photography logo like this one.
