Seen in 1965 shortly before her demise HMS Roberts, the Royal Navy's last monitor

built on shallow draft - 13 feet with 2 battleship size guns - 15 inch. Used for bombardment

If I remember correctly, this ship was moored in the Lynher River (off the Tamar) when I was an RN Apprentice in Plymouth 1963/64. One of the 15" guns from Roberts is now mounted on display as you enter the Imperial war Museum in London. This gun was also fitted to the battleship HMS Resolution - I served in the nuclear submarine HMS Resolution in the 70's
